NEXT RIDE: DECEMBER 2014

“The old miner’s trail” For this 5-day ride we suggest arriving the previous day, to get an early start on day 1. That day can be used to visit our olive grove and olive oil factory.

Day 1: Leaving the estancia early in the morning we climb the “cuesta de Las Chacras” (600 meters) to the Sierra summit and enjoy a picnic overlooking both Calamuchita and Traslasierra valleys. We ride south, through pampas and rocks until reaching the descent to “Hueco del Cencerro”. Francisco, the owner is expecting us with a campsite by the stream and a delicious dinner.
Day 2: After breakfast we can choose to visit the old mining sites, see condors and other fauna and flora. In the afternoon hike to the river’s natural pools for a swim.
Day 3: We leave Hueco del Cencerro and ride southeast on old trails used by the local serranos, passing by some of their homesteads. From the heights we can see in the distance our next destination, which we will reach after crossing Las Letanías River. At Vallecitos we will enjoy a night’s rest in their comfortable cabins.
Day 4: A 4 hours ride, through pine trees and hills, takes us to the magical Cerro Aspero Mine. Before dinner we can visit the miner’s village.
Day 5: On our last day ride we visit the Salto del Tigre waterfall, where the riders can prove their courage with a cold-water dive. The Cuesta de Carpintería descent offers impressing vistas of the Conlara valley. Upon arrival to Carpintería we leave the horses and are transferred by car to Estancia Corralito for dinner.
